I am grateful,too,for everything you speak of in your reflection.I suppose we are tribal by nature and when we hold these reunions it is similar to gathering around the cook fires(in our case the same old chicken dinner!)and our shared connection to the past is what allows us to now feel comfortable enough to share our current lives with folks that we haven't spoken to in decades. The reunion somehow validates us and, as you put so insightfully,provides us with access to the 'anchor' that we can all tie our canoes to,if only for a few hours, before we have to get back to our current lives.
